About the Author: Evelyn Tidman

Evelyn writes historical fiction based on real people and events.
Born and raised in London, England, Evelyn began writing stories as a child. Her interest in history was fired by old Hollywood films and historical novels by authors such as Jean Plaidy. The local library supplied historical knowledge in the form of non-fiction historical books and biographies. After moving to rural Norfolk, and still influenced by Errol Flynn’s swashbuckling days, a chance encounter with Captain Charles Johnson’s A General History of the Robberies and Murders of the Most Notorious Pirates set her on the road to her first published novel about the famous pirate Bartholomew Roberts. What had begun as a hobby became a passion, and she started writing historical novels in earnest. Other interests include family, the Bible, and a whole host of hobbies when there is time, as well as walking in the Norfolk countryside with husband and dog.

Her first novel Gentleman of Fortune was published in 2012, followed by One Small Candle about the Pilgrim Fathers, and For the King, a novel of the English Civil War.
