About Me... Diana Kathryn Plopa...
I am the associate publisher, editor-in-chief, and a writing coach at Grey Wolfe Publishing, LLC, an independent publishing house headquartered in Oakland County, Michigan.
I hold a degree in English, with a concentration on creative composition, as well as a certification in early childhood development. I have served as CEO of a website development company for five years where copy-writing for the websites we designed was one of my main focuses. I also spent ten years as a transcriptionist, performing services for the medical, legal and psychological communities.
I have published a book of poetry, Ideate Avail (currently out of print) and four other books from various genres. My personal goal is to write one book in each of the major genres, and then choose a favorite - if that's possible. I've spent time as a features writer for a Detroit newspaper, and I wrote copy part-time, for several years, for a popular local radio program.
Writing and a sincere love for the written word are passions that have followed me since early childhood. Whether poetry, fiction, memoir or any other genre; my words create worlds to step into with enthusiasm and wonder. I don't write because it's necessarily fun - although it truly is - I write because like breathing, if I didn't do it, I would die! My Muse, Drake (a very small Mallard duck), helps me with the tough stuff, quacking inspiration in my ear whenever necessary. Our imaginations are fueled by the abundance of hot cocoa whenever we write together.
I live with my husband, Dave, and our two dogs, Alex and Finnigan in Birmingham, Michigan. I enjoy writing; sailing; kayaking; escaping to our cabin in mid-Michigan to write; spending time with my family, especially my son, Zachary; cheese in large quantities; chocolate; Carl Orff, and Mozart.
