Amber Carlton’s Story

Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved to read and watch stories. One weekend she sat in the theater for two days and watched Anne of the Thousand Days thirteen times. She was enthralled with the charisma and charm of Anne Boleyn as she took on a kingdom and its king. She had never in her wildest dreams thought a woman could be that beautiful, feisty and elegant all at the same time. Granted, poor Anne came to a bad end, but the little girl wondered if that always had to be the outcome. She and her sister sat down to write their own novels and decided their books would not end with the death of such an interesting woman. She would triumph! They didn’t get very far before they realized they knew nothing about writing and it was hard work. After one paragraph, they gave up. Being a kid was a lot more fun, so they went off to play kickball.

But the love of a good story continued to haunt the young girl. She wanted a feisty heroine that didn’t lose her head and a man that recognized what he held in his grasp. She went on a quest, knowing there had to be stories out there. She browsed endless shelves of books on endless trips to the mall, searching for something unknown, until one memorable day. The beautiful woman on the cover of the book gazed back with something the girl didn’t quite understand. Her blond hair haloed her face and a soft smile touched her lips. The girl was mesmerized, glanced around, and pulled the book from the shelf knowing it was probably not a book her mother would approve. She knew it was a grownup book by the look in those emerald eyes. She bought it anyway and read it in secret, hiding it in her locked trunk and pulling it out at night.

The Passionate Adventures of Angelique offered everything the girl had been searching for—a beautiful, intelligent heroine, a man with mysterious secrets, lost love, the scandal of witchcraft, the theft of power and position, a sense of history. She read the entire series, then ached to move on to the books holding the characters referenced on the covers of the series—Fanny Hill, Amber St. Clair, Scarlett O’Hara. The problem was this all happened in the days before the internet and the girl had no idea what books those characters were in. She was forced to admit her secret and ask her mother. She got a surprise. Her mother knew these characters because she had read all the books and she had others to share! A wonderful relationship of discussions and ideas blossomed and the girl found herself drawn into the many worlds of grownup books.

Frantically she moved on to Kathleen Woodiwiss, Rosemary Rogers, Patricia Matthews, then to Jude Devereaux, Nora Roberts and so many others it became hard to count until finally…

The girl, who was now a woman, thought she might write one of her own.

Amber Carlton was born. She stole her name from Forever Amber because she knew she couldn’t possibly pull off being French. Amber still loves romances that have a touch of history, that hold feisty and memorable women and the men they tame, and these are the kinds of books she likes to write. She is fascinated with history, particularly English and early American, and enjoys living in these times while she creates her worlds. Some of the worlds you may recognize, some are filled with things that go bump in the night. All of them are guaranteed to hold the promise of love.

Welcome to Amber’s world of erotic, historical and paranormal romance. She hopes you enjoy your stay.

Draped in a newly mortal form, Arleigh Donovan believes she possesses the ability to kill men with love--a throwback to roaming through centuries as a beautiful and powerful faery, the Leanan sidhe. When Ryder Kendall magically appears in a Caindale cottage on Trinity Island the enticing but lunatic stranger is the last thing Arleigh needs. Ryder offers a temptation almost impossible to resist, but succumbing to her desires might kill him. When Ryder's pulled out of the modern world and dropped into 1639, he finds the woman of his dreams, but Arleigh might be a little crazy. Add into the mix an array of whimsical faeries, a charismatic and dangerous rival who happens to be immortal, kidnapped "nieces," and the everyday horrors of 1639, and Ryder's got more problems than he can handle. But his biggest problem is convincing the woman he loves she won't kill him with sex. ** "I came upon the tale of the Leanan sidhe one day and wondered how she'd react if she were suddenly mortal and fell in love. How would she deal with the man of her dreams knowing her curse could kill him? Arleigh and Ryder were born." Amber ** A Siren Erotic Romance ** 4 STARS: "Amber Carlton cleverly weaves the story in and out of time...Trinity Magic is an interesting read. The characters are fascinating. Carlton make this entertaining with the use of fairies and other mystical creatures. I enjoyed the way Carlton used history to add depth to this tale. Her description of life in the 1600s was like icing on the cake." -- Anne Boling, Review Your Book
