About the Author: Victor Cherbuliez

French novelist of Swiss origin who mastered the art of anagnorisis or plot twist in his stories, and that sometimes is associated with the Realist school of literature. He also wrote learned and erudite articles for various publications and was elected to seat number 11 of the Académie française in 1881.
