In Supergods, Morrison goes through the history of superheroes, from Superman's first appearance in Action Comics in 1938 to his own relaunch of the character. It also features elements of biography and a brain-boggling central section on how current quantum physics theory might suggest superhero universes could 'really' exist.
Robbie Williams makes a cameo appearance, while the author shows a deft turn of phrase while appraising his fellow creators. Watchmen writer Alan Moore gets some stick, while Morrison's former protege, Kick-Ass writer Mark Millar, is the subject of withering asides.
Supergods is a good introduction to newcomers.
